Does TwoWay need an internet connection?

Yes. TwoWay uses an online service for AI translation and speech.

What is TwoWay?

TwoWay is a voice translation app for conversations between two languages. Speak either language and get a spoken reply and readable translation in the other.

Which languages are supported?

English, Farsi, Spanish, Armenian, Tagalog, Arabic, French, German, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Hindi, Bengali, Turkish, and Italian. Translation quality can vary by language, accent, and environment.

Is my data private?

Audio and conversation context pass through TwoWay’s server to OpenAI to provide translation. The relay does not save audio or transcripts; device-access records and usage totals are stored. Provider retention may apply. .

How does the translation work?

Select two languages, then hold Push to Translate while you speak and release to translate. Or start Live mode for hands-free conversation. AI-generated speech and readable text help you follow the reply. Check important information, because AI can make mistakes.

When you use the app

Microphone audio, selected languages, voice settings, recent conversation text, and optional terminology hints pass through TwoWay’s server to OpenAI for AI translation and synthetic speech. Processing may occur outside your country.

What is stored

The app holds conversation text and replay audio in memory. Preferences and your device-access credential persist. The relay does not save audio or transcripts. It stores device-access records and daily usage totals, which currently have no automatic deletion schedule. Hosting infrastructure may retain connection and security metadata.

OpenAI and Android processing

OpenAI’s API data policies and retention apply; TwoWay does not promise zero retention. Android uses Google ML Kit to estimate language labels on the device. Its SDK may send performance and usage metrics to Google.

Your choices

Pause stops microphone capture. Clear removes the in-app conversation and replay audio; remove terminology hints separately. Copies you export and records already held by providers are outside those controls. In app versions with AI & Privacy settings, you can review the notice and withdraw consent. Earlier previews may differ.

This website

This landing page does not request microphone access or include analytics or tracking scripts. The sample buttons play prerecorded, AI-generated audio from TwoWay’s voice model. Hosting services may process ordinary connection information.

AI can make mistakes

Translations and voices are AI-generated. Check important information. TwoWay is not a substitute for a qualified interpreter in emergencies or high-stakes situations.
